WB Brokers. Watercraft Buying Made Simple

About WB Brokers

The one party in a boat deal with no reason to root against you

The salesperson earns more when you pay more. So does the finance office. WB Brokers is a buyer's agent and brokerage for boats and personal watercraft, set up so that our pay never depends on the size of your bill.

Principles

What we believe

Six positions that decide how we handle every search, quote and listing.

  1. The out-the-door number is the only number

A low boat price means little once freight, prep, documentation and finance add-ons land on top. We negotiate the total and compare quotes on the total.

  2. A flat fee keeps us honest

Our buyer fee is agreed in writing before work starts and does not move with the price of the boat. We gain nothing by pushing you toward a bigger one.

  3. The inspector should not be paid by the seller

We help you hire an independent marine surveyor who answers to you alone. We take no referral money from surveyors.

  4. We will tell you not to buy it

If the boat is wrong for your water, the price does not hold up, or the survey turns ugly, we say so plainly. Our fee does not depend on you liking the answer.

  5. Your information is not for sale

We do not sell your details as a lead to dealers or lenders. What you send us is used to work your search or your sale. See our privacy policy.

  6. Walking away is a result

A deal that falls apart over a bad survey or a fee that will not come off is the process working. We would sooner restart the search than close a bad one.

How we make money

You should know this about anyone who stands between you and a large purchase, so here it is in full.

Buyers pay us a flat fee. It is agreed in writing before we start work, and it stays the same if we negotiate the price down, if you change your mind about the model, or if the boat you end up with costs less than the one you first asked about. For that fee we locate the boat, price it against comparable listings, negotiate the out-the-door number, review the purchase agreement line by line, and help you arrange a survey and sea trial.

Sellers pay us a success-based fee when their boat sells, also agreed in writing up front. That is the seller brokerage side of the business.

If we are not paid by the dealer, the lender or the surveyor, we have no reason to defend any of them.

And that is the whole list. We hold no inventory, so there is never a boat we need to move. We take no commission, kickback or referral money from dealers, lenders or surveyors, and we make nothing on your financing.

The pricing page explains how both fees are structured and what each one covers.

Part of a family of brokerages

WB Brokers applies the same buyer's agent model as its sister company, RV Brokers, to boats and personal watercraft. The purchases have a lot in common: negotiable prices, fee lines that appear late, finance offices with their own incentives, and buyers who do this once every several years facing sellers who do it every day.

Who you will talk to

A real person reviews every search request and every deal check. Quotes are read line by line by someone who knows what a freight charge, a prep fee and a documentation fee are, and which of them tend to move. If you have a question before starting, send it to us.

Next step

Put someone on your side of the table

Start a search and we will scope it with you, or send a quote you already have and a person will review it for free.
